CASSIDY JENSEN COMBS

Hi! My name is Cassidy. I currently live in California, recently graduated from law school and I am passionate about helping victims of sexual assault. When I was 23 I was raped and my life has never been the same. I have experienced trauma I never thought possible. The rape brought unexplainable darkness into my life, and I have only gotten through it by finding and focusing on light. As I have worked through the highs and lows of surviving my own assault, I have learned so much about what victims need and worked to gain education and training on how to best help them. I care so deeply about bringing light into other’s lives, and I hope through sharing what I have learned that I can inspire you to be a light for victims of sexual assault. Thanks for joining me!

I was born and raised in a small town, American Falls, Idaho. After graduating high school, I moved to Orange, California, where I attended Chapman University. I received my bachelors degree in political science, and graduated Magna Cum Laude. While at Chapman I worked as the Interfaith Center President and did extensive work with students and community members of all religions. I was fortunate to represent the university at a variety of events both nationally and internationally. I was a member of the national speech and debate team, winning both regional and national awards. I was also named the Senior of the Year in 2016, in addition to receiving political science honor award.

In 2016 I started at BYU Law School in Provo, Utah. While in law school I was able to work with law firms in both Utah and Hong Kong. Additionally, I worked with victims of sexual and domestic violence in Utah and California, receiving both the Wiley W Manuael award for Pro Bono Legal services by the California Bar Association, and the Outstanding Service Award by the Legal Aid Society of San Diego. I was a member of the Trial Advocacy team for BYU and was named the Runner Up in the 2017 Woody Deem Trial Advocacy competition.

I am a certified sexual trauma responder in Utah and volunteered extensively at the Center for Women and Children in Crisis in Orem, Utah. I graduated from law school in April 2019 and am currently living in California with my husband. I am now working to educate and inspire teachers and leaders to help their students who struggle with the pain of trauma. I speak at conferences, conventions, trainings and in schools about the ways to change victim’s lives. If you would like to have me speak at your event or lead a training, send me an email at cassidyjensen@gmail.com

I hope through sharing what I have learned from my rape, along with the additional training I have received, that I can shed light on the reality of the horror victims continually endure, and inspire everyone to be a light for them.
